A short easy day as Spoletto nears

Today was grey and just a some light rain but overall really great walking weather. After the very first beautiful sunny day of walking it’s been an unsettled weather pattern and everyday rain has been forecasted. But overall we’ve really lucked out and with the exception of one day of the 8 – have seemingly escaped rain all around us!

Most of the trail flat which was really good timing after yesterday which was quite draining. Still beautiful but not quite as dramatic views as the last few days in the Rieti valley. Ended the day in a very small, peaceful, beautiful mountain town of Macenano. Only 1 place to stay, 1 restaurant to eat at but some much needed down time to recharge for the final 4 days of walking.

Tomorrow will be quite a difficult day with big climbs and descents but will finish at what is supposed to be one of the highlights of the Via DiFrancesco towns – Spoletto.

Leaving Marmore
Cappuccino and crescent break in town of Arrone
We must stay on trail 😂
Final stop of day in sight Town of Macenano but still 5k away at this point
One thing about pilgrimaging through Italy unlike Camino in Spain – laundry options are pretty much non existent! Daily hand washing the norm – not my favorite thing to do after a tough day on the trail 😂
This Risotto was best meal I’ve had so far – delicious!
