Day 3 – Ponticelli to Poggio San Lorenzo

Shortest day was also the toughest so far with several steep climbs and descendants as we go through, up, down and around the central Apennine’s mountains and beautiful valleys til we reach such beautiful hilltop towns which of course means very steep climbs to enter town!

What looks like the last of good weather days for a bit as the rain and cooler weather moved in this afternoon. Which moved the Italian men’s card game from hanging out at the bar to inside 😂

Tonight we get the first taste of true pilgrim living – in a small town with an albergue. Up until today the other towns we passed through didn’t have an albergue so was getting a bit used to that shall we say nicer lifestyle especially when u get an albergue that is not so nice. Water leaks , bathroom problems, etc! We do however have the entire place to ourselves and there is a kitchen and a washer – the joy of clean clothes 😊

Since we have kitchen went to the alimentari to purchase all of the above – total cost 12 euros !
Getting used to this site and feeling a beautiful hilltop town ahead and knowing the only way is up!
After mistakenly going off trail – determined to make it back using the most direct route rather than the route of least resistance 😂
