Hey there!  Welcome to what was once my Camino 2015 blog but for now let’s just say it’s my Camino/Pilgrimage blog:). Thought this would be a good way to journal what I believe will be memorable lifetime experiences and who knows maybe one of you following will someday be inspired to walk their own Camino – enjoy!

As my list of pilgrimages continues to grow so does my blog – here’s how to navigate:

  • 2015 Camino de Santiago –  Click on Camino de Santiago for all the details about of my first Camino trip in March of 2015, an amazing life changing journey where you’ll find the following:
    •  Gettin’ Ready – info on what the Camino is all about, my preparations, and other odds and ends as I prepared for my first Camino.
    • My Daily Adventures –  daily reports from the Camino de Santiago (Camino Frances route), 500 miles across northern Spain from foothills of the Pyrenees in St. Jean Pied de Port culminating in Santiago de Compostela.
  • 2017 Caminho de Fátima – Click on Caminho de Fátima to see all the details of my pilgrimage from Porto,  Portugal to Fátima, Portugal – site of one of the most visited Catholic shrines in the world – the Shrine of Our Lady of Fátima.   An amazing experience and privilege to be in Fátima and witness the 2017 centennial anniversary celebration of the last apparition in Fátima.
  • 2019 Via Di Francesco (Firenze to Assisi) – Click on Via Di Francesco a pilgrimage that brought me back to my home country of my ancestors as both my Mom and Dad’s family immigrated over from Italy.  The Way of St Francis follows in the footsteps of Saint Francis from Florence to Assisi to Rome (approx. 28 days/550km (341 mi.)) of which I walked just the first half of the pilgrimage from Florence to Assisi (approx 2 weeks/175 mi) through the Central Apennine mountains of Tuscany and Umbria regions of Italy culminating with an arrival date into Assisi on the feast day of St. Francis celebration (Oct 4th) which should be another unforgettable experience:).
  • 2022 Camino Primitivo – It’s been 3 long years since my last pilgrimage took me to Italy along the Way of St. Francis. Much has happened in those 3 years including my daughter’s wedding, another Granddaughter and of course the main reason it’s been 3 years – Covid. But the time has come to return to where my pilgrim journeys all started – Spain and the Camino de Santiago. This time a different route than my first Camino pilgrimage (Camino Frances) as I’ll be hiking the original Camino route, described in my guide book as “the most physically demanding and arguably the most beautiful of the many Camino routes” – Camino Primitivo from Oviedo, Spain to the city where all Camino routes eventually go – Santiago de Compostela!

  • 2023 Via Di Francesco (Rome to Assisi) – A return to Italy to finish what I started in 2019 – the Via di Francesco (Way of Saint Francis) pilgrimage! This time the 2nd half of this beautiful trail through the Central Apennine mountains of the Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio regions of Italy that follows in the footsteps of the life of Saint Francis nearly 800 years ago. Back in 2019 I walked the very challenging but very beautiful northern way of this trail from Firenze to Assisi this time the southern way from Vatican City to Assisi.   The Way of St Francis trail in its entirety is approx. 550k (341 miles) – this pilgrimage will be approximately 2 weeks of hiking 250k/155miles culminating once again in the hallowed grounds of the hill town of Assisi! So stay tuned – under the Via Di Francesco link will soon hopefully be a continuation of Via DiFrancesco blog posts from 3 years ago!

  1. Hi David and many thanks for following my blog. I now they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but you need to do a bit of editing above! I hope you have an amazing camino – this is a wonderful time to walk.
    Buen camino!
